If you named your dog Spike, dream of vacationing in Sunnydale, and never quite got over what happened to Jenny Calendar, then you’ll love the gem of a podcast we’ve uncovered for you. Buffy Between the Lines is original fan fic written and produced by a group of volunteers who probably know more about Xander, Willow, and Buffy than Joss Whedon himself. “Where do you go?” Episode 4 Review

A Review of Episode 4 – CTRL + ALT + DEL

Season 1, Episode 4. Ctr + Alt + Del

In the latest episode of Buffy Between the Lines, we are given a unique perspective on the Sunnydale survivors through a series of scenes narrated by The BuffyBot. We’ve all seen and laughed along with BuffyBot’s simplistic world views, but what happens when everyone around her is dealing with their very complex grief?

The answer, of course, is “CTRL + ALT + DEL” The episode was extremely well done, beginning to take a subtle look at how the characters begin to adjust to life A.B. (After Buffy.) The Bot’s simple words capture their grieving perfectly. She may be just a robot, but BuffyBot sees more than any of them realize.

Meanwhile trouble is a’brewin just out of sight. By this of course, I mean the antics of the vampire Javert, who was busy recruiting new accomplices. The first of which was D’Hoffryn, patron saint of the scorned! (Who now has a handy automated voicemail system.) I was also delighted to see the return of hellgod-minion extraordinaire, Jinx, who arrived with all of his complementary adjectives entact.

As always, the script was very well written, staying true to the characters that we all love. And the actors seem to be growing evermore comfortable within their roles as well, but this time around, I would like to pay special tribute to the team behind the show’s wonderful music. From the theme song to the end credits, the music is a big part of what makes this show so extraordinary. The original music composed for the show is excellent, paying homage to the original series, without copying it. I especially enjoyed the song that played during Buffy Bot’s final monologue. It helped to make her simple words all the more poignant and meaningful.

Quote of the Episode award goes to:

Buffy Bot: Buffy was…scared, but very brave. I want to be Buffy now. Be brave, and help people. They think I don’t understand, but it’s not that. I don’t always comprehend, but I do understand. I’m supposed to make people happy, that is my programming. And that is what I’m planning on doing. It’s what the other me would have wanted.

Here’s just some of the nice things that were said:

As I’m blogging now I’m listening to Buffy: Between the Lines episode 1, Season 1. So if it doesn’t all scan properly blame them. I’ve listened to it before, a while ago and it really is good. It takes a little while to adjust to the new voices but the story, characterisations and production is great. I wanted to start at the beginning again – ha! – I just got to the bit with the bunnies – I can so see that! Anyway, as I was saying, it’s a new ‘verse of entertainment and one that I’ll be looking into a bit more. You know, with all that spare time I have…

Exploring the Untold Stories of the Buffyverse
By Sabrina Boyer

Ever wondered what happened between seasons five and six of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Buffy was dead and Willow became all veiny and scary? So did Tabitha Smith and Kim Butler, creators of Buffy Between the Lines, an audio podcast by and for fans of the Buffyverse. A full on plethora of episodes, the podcast explores the untold stories of the characters between some of the most intense and highly charged seasons, beginning season one with the exploration of the goings on between seasons five and six, the summer sans Buffy. What did the Scoobies do without her? How did they decide to use the BuffyBot as a decoy? How did Spike get drafted into helping out? How did Willow get uber-megawitchy? These were the questions fans Smith and Butler wondered about, and so, the podcast was born.

BBtL to Recast the Entire Scooby Gang

Posted by Tabz On April - 1 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

After numerous efforts on behalf of the production team of Buffy Between the Lines, it’s been decided that the whole cast just needs to be recast. Especially Nick, who doesn’t sound a thing like Xander. “Kim and I sat down and talked, and it really was a hard decision, as much as our cast loves this show – they just aren’t cutting it,” producer Tabitha Grace Smith said.

“We really are striving to be the best, and the guy we have playing Spike – he isn’t even British!” Kim said in a follow-up statement. Harsh criticism also reigned down on the actress playing Enya, but she was not available for comment.

“I can’t believe it,” Cliss said in a phone interview. “It’s like, all my dreams are dead.” Other cast members expressed shock and amazement. “I knew people didn’t like me, but I didn’t think it would come to this,” said Tasha, who plays Dawn. “That’s extreme Dawn hate.”

“I can’t even stand the guy we have playing Angel. Seriously. The guy can’t pronounce babies correctly,” said Tabitha. “I think we’ll just have Emma do all the roles. She’s got a fantastic voice.”

“I knew we should have stuck to shadow puppets,” said Beth Nelson, Crew Manager for Season 2 of Buffy Between the Lines.

Auditions are being held tomorrow in New York and LA in an attempt to salvage the rest of the series. Click here to find the locations.
